During the first week of ESL classes, our Key Stage 1 students stepped into their English classrooms with excitement and curiosity. The focus was not only on learning vocabulary or sounds, but also on helping children feel comfortable using English naturally in everyday situations.
(Grade 1)
Our Grade 1 students began exploring letters and phonics sounds through songs, games, movement, and interactive activities. They also practiced simple classroom communication such as greetings, asking for help, and following instructions, helping them feel more comfortable listening to and using English in everyday classroom situations.
(Grade 2)
Grade 2 students reviewed familiar phonics sounds while learning new long vowel patterns through reading practice, games, and group activities. The teachers encourage students to talk about daily activities and share ideas with friends more naturally in English.
(Grade 3)
Grade 3 students became “Junior Detectives” as they practiced scanning texts for important details through fun detective-themed activities. They explored creativity by inventing new toys using classroom materials, encouraging students to share ideas, solve problems together.
💛 Key Stage 2 | “Every new beginning is a chance to learn, grow, and shine.”
In Key Stage 2, the new academic year began with warm “Getting to Know You” activities that helped students reconnect with friends and feel comfortable learning together again. Students introduced themselves, talked about their interests, and used English in simple conversations with classmates.
(Grade 4)
Grade 4 students began the term by learning sports vocabulary while practicing dictionary skills and independent word exploration. students practiced finding word meanings on their own and using new vocabulary during conversations and activities.
(Grade 5)
Grade 5 students reviewed verb tenses through engaging language activities before applying their knowledge creatively by designing their own food menus. Students included ingredients, food origins, and cooking methods while practicing grammar, writing, and presenting ideas in English through something fun and familiar to them.
(Grade 6)
Meanwhile, Grade 6 students explored modal verbs through fun classroom activities before creating riddles about sea creatures. The activities encouraged students to think carefully, explain their ideas clearly, and enjoy using English together with friends.
💃 Continuing Beyond the Classroom
Beyond the classroom of both Key Stages, English is input through clubs in every Thursday and will be starting next Thursday so the students will continue practicing English while building confidence in communicating with others through everyday experiences.
Moreover, students in Key Stage 2 will also take part in the 🪄 “House Cup,” a fun and engaging program that encourages teamwork, friendship, and school spirit through games and interactive English activities woven into daily school life.
📢 Let’s Stay Tuned!
In a world that is changing rapidly, language has become an important part of how we learn, connect with others, and understand the world around us. At Plearnpattana, we believe Thai children can grow to use English with confidence while still remaining grounded in their own identity and culture.
And this is only the beginning of the journey. In the coming weeks, we will continue exploring English learning across other Key Stages…so stay tuned for more stories from our ESL classrooms! 🤩

#PPTNAcademic#PPTNESL 🤓 The past three weeks in our ESL classrooms have been filled with “hands-on learning.” Across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, students have continued developing their English skills through reading, discussion, creativity, and meaningful experiences that bring language to life. …ผ่านมาแล้วกว่า 3 สัปดาห์ เด็ก ๆ ในทั้งช่วงชั้นที่ 1 – 2 ได้เปิดโลกการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษอย่างหลากหลาย และนำบทเรียนภาษามาสู่ชีวิตจริงด้วยการลงมือทำกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ มาติดตามไปด้วยกันค่ะ 📌 Key Stage 1 in Action In Key Stage 1, students were using English in many different ways both inside and outside the classroom. Alongside building their phonics foundation, they learned to listen, share ideas, work together, and communicate through stories, discussions, and group activities. English Clubs added even more opportunities for learning. In the English Cooking Club, students followed English instructions to make their own 🥪 “HAM & CHEESE sandwiches” while learning about ingredients and sequencing. In the Creative Hands Club, they used pipe cleaners to create colorful food models and crafts. Meanwhile, young authors in the Junior Story Maker Club began planning and creating their own Books with drawing, turning imagination into stories with a beginning, middle, and end. 📌 Key Stage 2 in Action “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” As students grow older, English learning becomes a tool for deeper thinking and communication. Over the past two weeks, students in Key Stage 2 continued strengthening their language skills through activities that encouraged them to discuss, analyze, and express ideas with confidence. 📚 “STORYBOOKS and NOVELS” including reading passages became starting points for conversations in class. Students shared opinions, discussed ideas with friends, explained their thinking, and explored language in different contexts. Through these experiences, they learned that English is not only about finding the correct answer, but also about communicating ideas clearly and working collaboratively with others. ❤️ Growing Through English Across both Key Stages, one thing remains the same which is “children learn language best when they are actively involved in the learning process.” Whether creating a storybook, making a sandwich, discussing a character, or working together to solve a challenge, students are gradually building confidence in using English while discovering that learning can be both meaningful and enjoyable at Plearnpattana. We look forward to sharing more learning stories from our ESL classrooms soon. 😊 Thank you for meaningful Story from ESL KS1-2 Team By the Corporate Communications Department Information as of June 09 2026 Follow Ploenpattana School’s page for more articles and photos of activities 👇 https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1D52UxKi81/
